Crystal is an artist who is currently pursuing a BA in Studio Arts and BS in Natural Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She explores her familial and cultural ties in her work through a variety of mediums. Her art explores the repercussions of war on individuals, drawing primarily from her family’s history. Through this personal connection, her work delves into themes such as trauma, loss, resilience, and the generational effects of conflict, offering a unique perspective on the emotional and psychological impacts of war. She works mostly with charcoal or india ink but also works in ceramics, oil paints, and fiber mediums. Before coming to Pittsburgh for school, Crystal lived in New Jersey. She incorporates her hometown influences into the stories that she creates while simultaneously telling stories of the past. Her work was featured in the Koether’s Gallery in West Caldwell, New Jersey, a multimedia group exhibition featuring emerging artists in Northern New Jersey.
